How can Santa really travel around the entire world in one night? How does his bag hold all of the presents for everyone in the world? How can Santa eat that many cookies?! The question that really gets us though… How many times does Santa use the restroom in his one big trip around the world?
Throwing a little bit of math your way, Santa visits over 125 million homes in a 31-hour period. That means that he must deliver around 500 million toys each year, giving Santa 1/1000th of a second at each home to complete all these tasks. While he has many restrooms to choose from during his travels, that doesn’t leave much time to take a “bathroom break”.
According to Charlie Johnson, Advisor to Santa’s Head Elf (at least that’s what he goes by on the Quora website), Santa does have some pretty powerful magic up his sleeve. The Council of Legendary Figures provided Santa with red fairy dust that helps to refill his toy sack, green fairy dust to help the deer fly, blue fairy dust to help quiet dogs from barking, and yellow fairy dust to slow down time. While this dust helps to provide him with some extra moments to eat cookies, drink milk. and give the deer some time to rest, this would also provide some time for him to take care of other necessary actions.
There is a popular myth that Santa truly isn’t like the rest of us. He doesn’t have human needs like we do, therefore he doesn’t need to use the restroom. Unfortunately, there is no concrete answer as to how many times Santa needs to use the restroom. Maybe we will get an answer to that question at some point, but right now, rest assured, that if Santa did need a plumber for that restroom, we would be the first to volunteer to help!
